With the Container as a Service (CaaS) solution from stepping stone AG, you can create your own Kubernetes clusters in the OpenStack-based stoney cloud. You can manage them using OpenStack CLI, OpenStack Dashboard or an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tool of your choice such as OpenTofu or Terraform and benefit from regular updates and automatic scaling.
A typical Kubernetes cluster consists of a load balancer pair, at least one control plane node and any number of worker nodes. The Cluster API is responsible for setting up and managing the cluster. It manages the entire life cycle of the Kubernetes cluster. This means that one or more Kubernetes clusters are set up automatically at the push of a button.
The Cluster API can be controlled via the OpenStack CLI or the OpenStack Dashboard. This allows further management tools to be easily connected to build and manage the Kubernetes clusters. This includes in particular the scaling of the cluster and the consistent installation of updates. Support for the last three major versions of Kubernetes is provided.
The storage architecture of the stoney cloud infrastructure is multi-layered (tiered storage) and therefore offers the option of assigning different categories of data to different types of storage media:
The storage media are available via volumes (local discs), as ObjectStorage S3 or via NFS. Your data has triple redundancy and is stored in encrypted form. Checksum verifications are carried out for every reading operation to ensure data integrity.
If required, stepping stone AG will be happy to take care of the management of your Kubernetes cluster.
