FOSS-Cloud 0.6.0 released

Today FOSS-Cloud 0.6.0 was published and is available for downloading.

In comparison with the FOSS-Cloud 0.4.1, the following improvements were made:

  • Installer
    • FOSS-Cloud Version included in the installation process.
    • Higher Grub default timeout (gives you more time to choose the preferred Linux kernel).
    • Network: Changed the sequence of the network user query.
    • Network: Clarified the user information by the network query.
    • Added SSH login information to the login screen.
  • Virtual Mashines
    • The two default Linux openSUSE and Ubuntu virtual machines where reduced to a only the Ubuntu Linux virtual machine to save disk space on the installation medium.
  • Backend
    • The virtual machines retrieve their IP addresses via DHCP (which in turn retrieves the information from the inbuilt OpenLDAP server).
  • VM-Manager
    • Added FOSS-Cloud version information to the "About" page.
    • VM-Profile can be created. Upload of ISO-file must still be done manually, please refer to the Admin Guide.
    • VM-Templates can be created from VM-Profiles.
    • Virtual Machines (VMs) can be created from VM-Templates.
    • Users can be assigned to Virtual Machines (VMs). The user administration is planned for version 0.6.1, which should be release by the middle of March 2011.

The FOSS-Cloud offers a redundant infrastructure for the operation of virtual servers and desktops (Linux and Windows).
