stepping stone Ltd at DINAcon 2025: Local LLMs for the Swiss Industry

Our CEO, Michael Eichenberger, spoke at DINAcon 2025 about local Large Language Models for the industry. The focus of the talk was on how Swiss companies can use AI securely, in compliance with data protection standards, and with full digital sovereignty — without transferring sensitive data abroad.

On the 18th of November 2025 DINAcon 2025 – DINAcon 2025, the conference for digital sustainability, took place at the Kongresszentrum Kreuz in Bern. The event offered valuable insights into topics such as digital sustainability, data protection, open data, blockchain, and digital innovation in Switzerland. The goal of the conference is to ensure that digital assets remain socially and environmentally beneficial in the long term.

Our CEO had the opportunity to present on the topic “Local LLMs for the Industry.” The presentation highlighted how Swiss companies can leverage modern Large Language Models (LLMs) and agent-based AI systems efficiently without transferring sensitive data to foreign servers. This potential is often left untapped, especially in highly specialized and innovation-driven sectors, mainly due to security and data protection requirements.

stepping stone builds state-of-the-art environments that provide local, secure LLMs for Swiss companies. Our approach includes:

  • Swiss resources Operations and data processing take place entirely in Switzerland.
  • Isolated LLM environments Sandbox instances for models and agents with fine-grained communication controls.
  • Auditability All processes and systems can be reviewed technically and legally at any time.
  • Data minimization and legal certainty Only the necessary data is stored, and all standards under Swiss law are adhered to.

We support companies from the experimentation phase through to the final integration of cutting-edge open-source models such as DeepSeek, Mistral, or Kimi. Additionally, we provide infrastructure for high-performance computing tasks, including demanding workloads in pharmaceutical research. Our goal is to ensure digital sovereignty in Switzerland and keep innovation within the country.
